Sourcing and Standards

All Loopy Mango yarns are made in Italy from ethically sourced fibers.

(Note: Discontinued yarn Big Loop was made in the US from American-raised sheep.)

All merino wool used in our yarn is sourced from non-mulesed sheep.

We prioritize making yarn that is natural and soft, so that knitters and Mother Earth are both happy!

General Fiber Care: Best Practices

Caring for natural yarn is a considerably different from its synthetic counterpart. Before getting into specifics, the number one rule when it comes to fiber care is to make a small swatch and wash it using your preferred method to see if you like the result before washing the entire garment

For garments made from Loopy Mango yarn, we generally recommend dry-cleaning or hand-washing in cold water and laying flat to dry. This is especially true for yarn with high wool content (Merino No. 5, Dream, Mohair So Soft), as exposure to heat and agitation — aka the typical conditions of a washing machine — will cause the fibers to felt together and turn your project into a shrunken, stiffened version of the handmade treasure that you worked so hard on.

Cotton yarns (like Big Cotton and Summer) can stand up to a bit more intense cleaning method, but we still recommend testing out any processes on a test swatch first!
