Gauge: Stockinette stitch on size US 11 (8 mm) needles holding two strands: 11.5 sts & 17.5 rows/4" (10 cm)

The body of this coat is worked flat from the bottom up in three pieces. It is knitted with two strands of yarn held together. The panels are then assembled and seamed at the shoulders and sides. Stitches for the sleeves are picked up around the armholes and the sleeves are worked in the round from the shoulder to the cuffs. The garter stitch collar is worked by picking up stitches around the neckline.
For the multicolor version, each piece of the cardigan is knitted in a different color using two strands of yarn held together. The yarn amounts provided for each piece (back, front, sleeve, pocket, etc.) represent the total amount of yarn required for that piece.
If you are holding two different colors together, divide the total amount evenly between the two colors. Since yarn is sold in 50 g balls, you may need to purchase an extra ball of each color.
For example, the S/M back requires 400 g of yarn. If both strands are the same color, you will need 400 g of that color. If you are holding two different colors together, you will need 200 g of each color.
Similarly, an S/M sleeve requires 150 g of yarn. Divided between two colors, that is 75 g of each color. Since yarn is sold in 50 g balls, you will need to purchase 2 balls of each color.
